Impersonation Fraud / Courier Fraud - Trigger Fraud Alert #46 (September 2026) |

Dear Resident,
NEW FRAUD REPORTS IN HULL, BEVERLEY AND DRIFFIELD Impersonation Fraud / Courier Fraud – Please pass onto Friends, Neighbours and Family. Humberside Police have advised that fraudsters are contacting victims in Humberside via telephone and are portraying to be police officers or banking officials.
The outline call used by fraudsters: They are calling from the Bank, and the victim’s accounts are at risk from fraud by insiders at their bank which is being investigated by the police and need them to withdraw money from their bank and send it to an address so it can be checked to see if it is fake. They are calling from the Police and the potential victim needs to withdraw their money as someone is trying to steal it, they were then told to return home with the money where it was likely to either be sent via post or collected.
IMPORTANT Don’t trust your caller ID display on your phone – fraudsters use software that can change the appearance of their phone number and appear different on your phone screen (like a local number). Landline phones can have a delay. When you put the phone down and pick it back up, you could still be on the phone with the fraudster. Wait before making a call out, do not let a caller rush or panic you. The police or your bank will not contact you out of the blue to participate in an investigation or send a courier (taxi) to your home to collect bank cards, cash, gift cards, or other valuable items. Any requests to do so are Fake. The bank will never ask you to move or post money, transfer funds or share security details. If you have any concerns, visit a branch or call your bank on a trusted number which can be found on the back of your bank card or dial 159.
