Defensive Planting - What exactly is it. |
||
|
Dear Resident,
With the official start of spring later this week, and the weather beginning to improve, many people will be looking at what to do with their gardens, so they look good for the summer.
Part of this may involve improving the security of their garden to prevent intruders gaining access to it.
One of the most cost-effective ways of doing this, whilst also making your garden look nice in the process is called Defensive Planting.
This involves the planting of thorny, spiky, or prickly plants along the edge of your property to prevent a would be-burglar being able to enter without having a clash with the plant first.
Defensive planting can be used in conjunction with current garden set ups, such as growing a rose over a side gate or along a fence line to prevent someone climbing over.
Once these plants are established, they provide a clear visible deterrent to anyone considering entering a garden.
So, if you have an area of your garden that you think may be vulnerable and you want to add extra security, give defensive planting a go, I think you will be surprised at the results.
More information in relation to defensive planting and the types of plants that could be used can be found here.
