🚨 Important safety reminder – Battery Charging

Dear Resident

We want to share this important reminder that using the wrong charger for battery‑powered items can be dangerous. Using a charger with a higher voltage than the one that was originally supplied with the product can cause batteries to overheat, fail and potentially catch fire.

Thankfully at a recent incident the occupiers were alerted quickly and got out safely. These photos show just how serious fires involving lithium‑ion batteries can be, even when they’re spotted quickly and put out quickly.

You’ll find lithium-ion batteries in e-bikes, e-scooters, phones, laptops/tablets, vapes, power banks, cordless tools, garden kit, toys and mobility aids. 

With many great deals around, here’s how to stay safe:

✅ Buy smart – Stick to trusted retailers
✅ Charge safely – Never on soft surfaces like beds or near escape routes
✅ Don’t leave charging unattended – Or charge overnight
✅ Use the right charger – Always manufacturer-approved (avoid cheap or counterfeit replacements)
✅ Recycle responsibly – Never throw batteries in household waste

Remember: If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
