Swarming Scunthorpe streets |
||
|
Officers from our Scunthorpe Neighbourhood Policing teams have been swarming Scunthorpe streets with a whole host of proactive problem-solving policing this year as part of Operation Swarm. Together with partners, they’ve been running Op Swarm since August, which is a high visibility passive drugs operation that plays a crucial role in tackling issues that the local policing officers know are important to our communities. With passive drugs dogs Sadie, Spud, Maisie, Matilda, and Elsa leading the way through the streets of Scunthorpe as they sniffed out those who thought they could get away with criminality in our communities, this successful initiative recognises the impact that misuse of drugs can have in the area. Ten days of action over the past few months have seen the teams conduct a total of 49 stop and searches, resulting in 14 arrests for various offences including shop theft, anti social behaviour, assault, GBH, possession of weapons, possession of drugs, robbery, failing to appear at court, and prison recall, demonstrating its effectiveness in tackling crimes that are of most concern to local residents, businesses and communities.
