Working together for a safer community: Inside Pickering Road Police Station

As part of our ongoing #SaferStreetsSummer campaign, we are highlighting the vital work of our neighbourhood policing team based at Pickering Road Police Station in Hull. This dedicated team plays an important role in keeping the local community safe through high visibility, proactive engagement, and close collaboration with partnered organisations

The area covered by Pickering Road Station includes a mix of residential neighbourhoods, schools, local businesses, and green spaces. With such a varied landscape, their approach to community engagement is equally diverse, tailored to meet the unique needs of each area. Whether it's patrolling busy shopping areas, supporting schools, or engaging with long-standing residents, officers adapt their efforts to best serve all parts of the community.

This week, we accompanied PCSO Ash Gregory on patrol to get a first-hand look at how our PCSOs work to protect and support the community every day.

PCSOs like Ash are often the first point of contact for local residents. Their role is to listen, engage, and act on the concerns raised by members of the public. Through Humber Talking, a community engagement initiative, officers gather feedback that directly shapes the priorities of the wider neighbourhood policing team. The information gathered from Humber Talking is vital to solving problems in the community, often kickstarting further investigations and leading to safer streets.

Hear more from Ash.
