Humberside Police among top performers in 101 call handling |
||
Following today’s national 101 dataset publication (Thursday, May 29) by the NPCC, Humberside Police is proud to be recognised as one of the top-performing forces in the UK for call handling efficiency. With strategic improvements, data-driven operations, and highly trained staff, the force has strengthened its ability to respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls swiftly and effectively. Since April 2024, Humberside Police has significantly reduced 101 call response times, with average wait times dropping to just five seconds (median average call wait time of two seconds), placing the force among the top in the country. The force also continues to meet and exceed key national targets: 96.2% of 999 calls answered within 10 seconds, ensuring rapid emergency response. 95.5% of 101 calls answered within 30 seconds, reinforcing accessibility and public trust. Force Control Room Commander Chief Superintended Tracy Bradley said: "These latest results demonstrate the strength of our call handling approach. With focused improvements and investment in technology, we have enhanced efficiency, ensuring members of the public get the support they need when they need it. "By forecasting call volumes accurately, we make proactive decisions that allow us to manage resources efficiently. Rather than reacting to an increase in the volume of calls; we anticipate demand to keep response times as short as possible. "We’ve invested in intelligent call routing, which helps us protect the most vulnerable callers. Our switchboard identifies risks and can escalate a call into our priority queue to ensure urgent cases are handled immediately. "Our supervisors, dispatchers and call handlers are dedicated to ensuring every caller receives a professional, timely and appropriate response. Their hard work and expertise allow us to maintain high service standards, even under pressure. "The improvements we’ve made over the past year have positioned Humberside Police as one of the top performing forces in the country for call handling. This achievement is a testament to the professionalism, skill, and commitment of our staff, ensuring that every call - urgent or not - is handled with the highest standards." Humberside Police’s national ranking highlights its commitment to maintaining high standards and ensuring the public receives efficient and responsive service. For urgent emergencies, when someone is in immediate danger or a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergency police assistance, including reporting past incidents, seeking advice, or providing information, call 101. | ||
