JOIN US: Recruitment window is open for Special Constables


 

Do you want to make a difference? 

If so, why not join Humberside Police as a Special Constable? 

 

We are looking for applicants to join us in early 2026 who want to spend their spare time protecting the communities of Humberside. Special Constables have the same powers as regular officers, wear the same uniform and are issued with the same protective equipment. 

As a Special Constable, you will undertake a wide range of policing duties, providing an essential link between the police and our diverse communities within Humberside. 

You will help us to build relationships with our communities, and to meet policing needs, whilst also increasing public confidence in the police service. 

Special Constables are an integral part of our policing community and come from all walks of life, volunteering for a minimum of 16 hours a month, these shifts are flexible and can easily fit around your regular job. 

 

In order to be eligible to apply, you must be at least 18 years old (there is no upper age limit) have a good level of fitness to pass the fitness test pass a medical examination Joining Humberside Special Constabulary opens up a world of opportunity for personal and professional advancement. 

Undergoing the training and then going out on patrol makes a welcome break from day-to-day life, bringing excitement and challenge with every day you volunteer. 

In addition, we have a strong family spirit between our Staff, Police Officers and Special Constabulary, this is paramount in order to deliver a great service to the public we serve. 

 

We value the contribution of all of our Special Constables and the difference that they make both to the communities and Humberside Police.
