Good afternoon Southcoates residents, Below is the bi-monthly recap for the ward:
The Zetland Arms: Within the past few weeks there has been a number of calls in relation to The Zetland Arms being broken into and smashed up by local youths. The pub is abandoned and a derelict building which is not safe for anyone to access which includes professionals. If anyone is seen to access the building they will be stopped and dealt with for this. If you see anyone within the building then please report this to us, if not for the offences they may be committing then for their own safety.
Motorbikes in the Area: Over the past year, we have had a number of complaints regarding motorbikes, off-road bikes and quadbikes amongst others being within the area. Whilst this is a city-wide issue it is still a priority within the ward. With the weather slowly turning for the better we will likely see as increase in the amount of motorbikes that are out and about on the roads. Please be mindful regarding this and report this to us via 101. The more reports we have within our area, the more action we can justify taking and the more time we will be able to spend in the long-term looking at dealing with those doing this.
Shop Theft Updates: Within our ward we have a number of shops who are regularly hit by shop lifters. Thankfully in the near future our shops will have access to an application which allows us to share basic details of suspects and their images with the store to allow them to report them to us when they commit thefts. We have seen other areas use this application prior to ourselves and it has resulted in a high number of convictions due to shop workers being more aware of those individuals who target their stores.
Crime stats: Below are our top crimes reported to have occurred between the period of 01/02/25 to 28/03/25. Please note that these figures do not include domestic abuse incidents. Shoplifting: 35 Assault with injury: 24 Public order offences: 17 Assault without injury: 14 Harassment: 14 Other incidents of theft: 9 Criminal Damage to a Dwelling: 8 Criminal Damage to a vehicle: 7 Residential Burglaries: 3
Many thanks. Jack PC 670 Murphy | ||||
