As part of #OpShield, our teams are working hard to tackle repeat offenders and outstanding suspects of burglary, theft, and robbery. Crimes like this, often referred to as Serious Acquisitive Crime, can have a long-lasting impact on its victims, which is why our teams are prioritising catching those involved in such crimes. Detective Chief Inspector, Allison Sweeting said: “As part of our commitment to keeping our communities safe and protecting the public, this March, Operation Shield has seen us cracking down on Serious Acquisitive Crime, or SAC as we like to call it. “As we work to identify repeat offenders and catch any outstanding suspects, we are making sure we have the evidence we need to get the charges which will allow us to remove the risk that these people pose from our streets. “Our team is working around the clock to do as much as they can to get offenders into custody, especially those who are a higher risk of causing harm to our communities. “I would urge anyone who may have any information about related offences, or concerns about people who may be involved, to please get in touch by contacting us on our non-emergency number, 101. “The intel we receive from our communities helps us to target these criminals and make sure they cannot harm our communities any further.” You can also report anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Our Rural Task Force have also been busy focusing on SAC related offences across our rural areas, offering eyes in the skies to assist officers on the ground in bringing offenders into custody. And Designing Out Crime Officers from our Crime Reduction Unit continue to work closely with us offering support and crime prevention advice in an attempt to reduce the number of SAC victims we see.
