SPROATLEY: Crime Alert - Theft of a Pedal Cycle


Dear Resident,

 

Humberside Police are investigating a Theft of a pedal cycle from outside the village shop, Main Road, SPROATLEY.

 

The incident occurred on Sunday 16 march 2025 around 2:20pm. The offender(s) approached a Purple CARERRA HELLCAT 29" wheel mountain bike left unattended outside the shop and moved it off towards Balk lane.

If you have any CCTV footage (including video doorbell), saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time or have any information about the offenders please contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting occurrence ref:  25*35431.

 

Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

 

To reduce the risk of your pedal cycle being stolen, please read through the below advice

  • Register your cycle for free at www.bikeregister.com -  click HERE for more details
  • Contact your local Neighbourhood Team to arrange for your cycle to be marked, or visit a bike marking event.
  • You have spent money on your cycle, so buy the best quality lock you can. View the attachment to see which standard of lock is best for you.
  • Try and double lock your cycle, this will allow you to secure the frame and both wheels to a cycle stand.
  •  Lock your cycle, even when it is at home, consider alarms and additional security for sheds.
  • Only leave your cycle in public if you really need to, consider using a cycle hub.
