Dear Resident,
Police have received two calls for service (on consecutive days) from Haven Cleethorpes Beach (formerly known as Thorpe Park), namely Police Log 413 of 05/02/25 and Log 416 of 06/02/25 - which relates to a group of youths (totally 6) attending the area and causing anti-social behaviour by shouting/swearing and throwing of stones at the security staff and vehicle(s). Despite no damage and no complaints forthcoming, the staff were informed that I will be looking at addressing the youth’s behaviour by issuing them with an Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) warning letter.
I have formally identified those responsible and attended their home addresses where I have spoken to the youths in front of their parents and guardians. Over the course of this weekend (15 & 16th February 2025) – I have issued 6 anti-social behaviour warning letters.
Wherever possible we try not to criminalise young people and do our best to divert them away from crime, but we will not hesitate to protect the residents of North-East Lincolnshire against bad behaviour. We have various sanctions that we can consider through the Anti-social Behaviour Panel these include:
Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC) which puts certain restrictions upon them on a voluntary basis which is agreed by the young person and signed by them as well as their respective parent/guardian.
In the event of that being breached we may then consider a court injunction with the necessary prohibitions and positive requirements which may include a curfew, none associations, not to enter defined areas etc. Breach of an injunction can ultimately result in a custodial sentence.
If the multi-agency ASB Panel consider that parents/guardians are failing in their responsibilities then they can recommend that a Community Protection Notice is served on them requiring that they (parents/guardians) take reasonable steps to stop their child from offending or behaving in an anti-social way. Failure to do this can result is a £100 fixed penalty fine or a Court fine up to £2,500 and an application made to the Court for a Parenting Order.
I hope that this alert fills you with confidence that your local policing team will work with partners/stakeholders/young adults and their parents in order to make our area a safer place to live and work. Anti-Social behaviour will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly.
