Crime Alert - Theft from Garden

Dear reader,

Humberside Police are investigating a report of an attempted burglary on Hilderthorpe Road

The incident occurred between 01:00 on 03:00. The offender approached the property and tried the handles but did not gain access to the property.

If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time or have any information about the offenders please contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting occurrence ref: 24*177574

Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

To help prevent any further occurrences please have a look at the below advice -

  • Think where to put valuable plants & garden furniture. Avoid the exposed front garden & keep them behind tall fences at the rear.
  • Valuable furniture etc should be anchored or secured during the summer months & kept secure in a shed over winter, or during long periods of not being used.
  • Never leave cycles in gardens especially if unsecured..
  • 1.8m Perimeter/fencing should be fitted to the rear of the property and include an anti-climb topping like trellis. Fitting a key lockable gate will help to restrict access.
  • Keep gardens lit with a dusk to dawn, low wattage light, complimented by a movement sensor floodlight, which will alert the household to prowlers.
  • Property mark your garden furniture with your postcode & house number, recording it for FREE at www.immobilise.com
  • Check out what climbing spiky plants you could grow up your fences to make them harder to climb. For some examples of plants click here
  • Remove or secure any items such as wheelie bins or garden furniture, which could be used to assist climbing the fences.
  • Thank you
