Compound and Container Break-ins

Dear Resident,

We have been made aware of recent offences in other policing areas, where compounds and containers have been targeted.

This has led to thefts into the 10's of thousands of pounds from different locations, with mainly high value items being stolen.

The main methods used involve -

  •  The removal of sections of palisade fencing for access/egress.
  •  CCTV being disabled.
  • Gate hinge bolts being removed to all the gate to be lifted off the hinges.
  • Containers being targeted and sections cut out.
  • There are options that you can consider to reduce the risk of this type of incident taking place.

  • Consider motion activated CCTV cameras that will send an alert if movement is picked up, ensuring it covers any main access points.
  • Consider upgrading the bolts on palisade fencing, to make it more difficult to remove the sections.
  • Consider using a security company that will monitor the CCTV and attend any suspicious activity.
  • Ensure that perimeter fencing is checked on a regular basis to identify any damage, or entry attempts.
  • Consider fitting alarm systems on containers, especially if high value items are stored within.
  • Use sold secure closed shackle padlocks to secure container doors.
  • Make sure any high value items are property marked.
  • Consider additional security within a container, such as ground anchors.
  • Consider being part of a business watch scheme, so suspicious activity can be shared.
  • If you do see anyone acting suspiciously around your property, ensure you inform the Police.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone you think it will be relevant to.

    Regards

    Jamie
