🚨 Trigger Fraud Alert #18 (October 2024) 🚨

Dear Resident,

We have a new FraudAlert for your attention.

Re: Parking Ticket Fraud

Fraudsters are sending out text messages, purporting to be from the local authority, advising a parking fine has been issued and requires payment.

“Please Pay a parking penalty charge notice (PCN) issued by a local council. If you do not pay a PCN within 28 days, you’ll get a ‘charge certificate’ and you’ll have 14 days to pay the original fine plus 50% more. If you do not pay, you’ll be prosecuted – you may have to pay a bigger fine as well as court costs. Please pay your fine at the link after reading the information”

Victims who have clicked the link have said it looked like a government site and when they put their vehicle registration into the link, it did not show a location only a PCN and shows another fine.

In September the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) issued some advice about this type of fraud, you can find out more about this on the Government website here:

Please do share this alert within your contacts, so that we can make as many people aware as possible.
