Hull Fair concludes

In the blink of an eye, the sweet smell of candy floss and the dazzling lights filling the night sky have soon become a distant memory as Hull Fair concludes for another year.

The annual return of Hull Fair this year saw thousands of people flock to Walton Street in Hull to see the lights and the sights and indulge in a variety of sweet treats on offer.

Following the conclusion of Hull Fair, Chief Superintendent Paul Butler said: “As a yearly highlight for the city, Hull Fair is one of the largest events we police in our region, and I’m pleased to say there were only a small number of minor incidents. We had officers and staff on the ground, and our command suite running for the whole time that the Fair was open.

“I would like to thank all of our officers and staff, our partners at Hull City Council, and the Showman’s Guild for their support in once again helping make this an enjoyable event for the vast majority who attended.

“Everyone who works at Hull Fair loves the opportunity to talk to the public, and we’re grateful that so many people stopped to chat with our teams patrolling to thank us for keeping them safe.

“In eight days, I’m pleased to say of the estimated 600,000 who attend the fair each year, we only arrested four people for public order related offences, as well as issuing 21 dispersal orders.”

“Once again, I hope if you did attend you had a really enjoyable time and we look forward to next year.”
