Nicholson House Statement:

Good evening Marfleet Residents,

We have been made aware of a number of social media posts regarding a property within your area.

The following statement from the council has been sent to us to share with you:

A number of recent posts on social media platforms have claimed that Hull City Council is preparing some of its properties to be used to accommodate asylum seekers. These posts are completely untrue. Asylum accommodation is a Home Office function, not a local authority responsibility.  The Home Office are  responsible for sourcing properties for this purpose in the private sector. The council does not provide any properties for use by the Home Office or their contractors for this purpose.

Nicholson House was sold to a private developer who will be commencing a  full refurbishment of the site. Further details can be found on the Council’s Planning Portal. The Council no longer owns the building.

For a further and more extensive statement, please view Hull City Council's Facebook page and view what they have posted regarding this.

Many thanks,

PC 670 Murphy
