Appeal after police vehicles damaged

Officers investigating criminal damage are appealing for information after several police cars were damaged between Thursday 9 May and Wednesday 15th May in the Nunsthorpe and surrounding area.

It is reported that a group of youths are alleged to have thrown bricks at police vehicles while undertaking patrols in and around the South Ward of Grimsby, causing damage to the front and rear windows, before fleeing the scene on motorbikes.

Police are specifically wanting to know the whereabouts or information about a white Motorcycle and the rider within the Nunsthorpe area. If you have any information please ring on 101 quoting   Log 411  14/05/24

Alternatively, you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Chief Inspector Simon Duffield said: “We will not tolerate behaviour of this kind in our community, it is totally unacceptable.

“These incidents have taken seven police vehicles off our roads, and it also posed a significant risk to the drivers had they not been inside the vehicle during the incident.

“We will always take action to identify those responsible and deal with them accordingly. Someone will know who did this and I would appeal for people to contact us if they have information about the incidents.

“We will be relentless in our efforts to identify those responsible and pursue all lines of enquiry to ensure they are held to account. Such mindless and targeted vandalism will not be tolerated.

“We are proud to be a part of the Nunsthorpe community and the criminal behaviour of a small minority will not deter us from our efforts to keeping our communities safe – this will always be our priority.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time, or has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101.”
